"Buenos Aires Inhabitants" As seen from the eyes of a foreigner.

Here's a little excerpt from a book titled "Buenos Aires Inhabitants" by an American traveller who lived here about 40 years ago.

"People from Buenos Aires are descendants of a mixture of races and cultures; mainly european ones. As so, they inherited a funny mixture of uses. You can say that they inherited the best cultural features of the so-called worst part of Europe and the worst cultural features of the so-called best part of Europe.
This is, they are good and loyal friends and bond together through both good and hard times, like the Spaniards; they are efusive, noisy, cheered and they know how to enjoy life simplest things, like the Italians and they give especial importance to family matters like the peoples of the countries of Eastern Europe.
Nontheless, they are acid, sarcastic and annoyinglly ironic, like the English; they are all cruel tirants giving orders one another as if they were a crowd of kings, like the Germans and they are pretentious, arrogant, proud and believe themselves to be the "meilleur du monde" (best of the world), like the French."

Aqui hay un pequeño parrafo de un libro llamado "Habitantes de Buenos Aires", escrito por un viajante americano que vivió acá hace unos 40 años.

"Los porteños son descendientes de una mezcla de razas y culturas; principalmente europeas. Como tales, heredaron una curiosa mezcla de costumbres.Se puede decir que heredaron las mejores cualidades de la (así llamada) peor parte de Europa y las peores cualidades de la (así llamada) mejor parte de Europa. Es decir, son buenos y leales amigos en buenos y malos momentos, como los españoles; son efusivos, ruidosos, alegres y saben como disfrutar de las cosas más simples de la vida, como los italianos y le dan una especial importancia a los asuntos familiares, como la gente de los paises de Europa del Este. Sin embargo, son ácidos, sarcásticos e irónicos hasta molestar, como los ingleses; son tiranos crueles dándose ordenes unos a otros como si fueran una multitud de reyes, como los alemanes y son pretenciosos, arrogantes, orgullosos y creen ser lo "meilleur du monde" (mejor del mundo), como los franceses."
